Skype in the classroom

Okay, so this is not exactly a blog that I'm recommending but it is a link to a webpage where you can gain access to authors that are willing to skype with your class for free!! Sounds pretty great to me and also integrates technology! Enjoy!

I used this "quiet critters" management strategy today to try to make lunch a little bit easier of a transition for my first grade friends and I. And I'm happy to report that it worked quiet well! We actually made it out to recess on time today!! I'm also planning on including the "rockin' hundereds chart" or at least giving it a try to see if it will work for us.

I would also check out the rest of this blog though...lots of other great ideas and strategies available there.

I see lots and lots of technology being used here! And writing too!

Smartboards, computers...both writing on paper and off! Granted this is for 4th grade and a little above my realm but I think that the lessons used here could and should be adapted for other grades! Enjoy!

Yes. Here goes nothing.

One of the few realms of the internet that I don't have much experience with...blogging. I am an avid Facebook user, constantly checking my emails, and using the internet for just about anything and everything. However, blogging is all new to me. But, as with many things: "practice makes perfect."

I chose this quote for my blog because I believe that it applies to many aspects of life, especially in education. Practicing different teaching and learning styles in the classroom allows both teachers and students to discover what works and what doesn't. When the ultimate goal is student growth and understanding, practice is crucial.

On a lighter note, I hope that the practice of blog writing that I will be doing in the next few months will help me better understand the blogging world and the pros of reading and writing blogs.
